Schulich Alumnus Continues to Invest in Africa

< Back Adam Camenzuli (iBBA, ’10), Founder and CEO of Nyumba Housing, has been busy over the past few years focusing on affordable housing, agriculture and access to health in Africa. In Malawi, Camenzuli and his team are working on providing access to the thousands of Malawians who do not currently have access to housing. Also, in Malawi he opened a well for his local community, which now provides everyone in the area with access to free high-quality clean water. In addition, Camenzuli has been busy working as the CFO of Kasha, a last mile health technology and distribution company in East Africa – managing a team of around 20 people across several countries with sales and complexity growing month over month. Kasha recently raised $21 million to expand operations across the continent.

“Providing healthcare products and other household goods to thousands of people in Rwanda and Kenya, Kasha is a way to buy high-quality and legitimate products at a fair and affordable price,” Camenzuli said. Over the last year or so, Camenzuli says he has learned a lot about how to manage revenue growth from a financial process perspective and is looking forward to what’s in store for the future, as the company grows to more countries in Africa. “We are investing in the long term and are very optimistic about the prospects for Africa,” said Camenzuli. “I’ve been here almost 15 years, since graduating from Schulich, and have both personally and professionally invested on the continent – the future is here.”
